Artist's Statement
My name is Kyla and I am a 27 year old artist from Holyrood, Newfoundland, now living in Glasgow, Scotland. I specialise mainly in high detail graphite pencil portraits. This is something that I have been doing seriously for over a year now and I intend to continue to improve my technique, my practise, and to try to find more opportunites to combine my technical skills with my imagination. I am also eager to share what I have learned with others and to expand into other mediums and subjects.
In my portrait work, I aim to create a lasting piece of artwork that is personal and meaningful by taking the time to get it just right. I try to capture the essence and personality of the person and to enhance the original photograph through attentiveness to detail. I really enjoy incorporating ideas from clients and keeping them involved and updated throughout the process.
